It has been a revealing week for President Trump.
The Supreme Court
Trump appears on the latest cover of TIME magazine under the headline "Trump's Way." In the interview, he said he regrets appointing Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court because they voted against him too often. He told TIME they are "not the people I interviewed" and called them "merely a shell of their original selves."
The three justices he appointed — all confirmed with Republican Senate support — have ruled against him this year on tariffs, mail-in voting restrictions, and birthright citizenship. Trump said the court is "costing the United States trillions of dollars with shockingly bad rulings."
The president who reshaped the Supreme Court now says the court he built isn't working for him.
The Checks
Trump has promised Americans $12,500 in direct payments since taking office. None have been delivered.
The tally: a $5,000 DOGE dividend backed by Elon Musk in February 2025, never issued. A $2,000 tariff rebate check proposed in July 2025 and promised for mid-2026, which came and went. A $5,000 "Trump Dividend" promised at the GOP midterm convention in Dallas if Republicans keep the House and Senate in November, with no legislation, no funding mechanism, and no timeline.
This week he added a $500 ACA rebate check for roughly 1 million enrollees. No delivery date. No congressional authorization. The pattern holds.
The Golden Dome
Trump is pursuing a $500 billion satellite-based missile defense system he calls the Golden Dome, modeled on Israel's Iron Dome. The companies positioned to receive the contracts — SpaceX, Anduril, Palantir — all have leadership with direct White House access. No foreign nation has launched a ballistic missile at the continental United States in the 80 years since nuclear weapons have existed.
Alabama
Trump holds a rally in Mobile, Alabama today, one of several stops this week as midterm elections approach in November.
