Meta Platforms, Inc. is worth approximately $1.4 trillion. It employs over 70,000 people. It has a legal team that could paper over a small country.
It forgot to register its name in Florida.
Florida is the third largest state economy in the United States. It has 22 million residents. It is also, as of last week, home to a company called META PLATFORMS INC — registered with the Florida Division of Corporations by JJ Johnson, a declared 2028 presidential candidate who is currently suing Meta in federal court.
The registration is real. The Florida Division of Corporations record is public. The irony is complete.
Johnson, who founded AMILLI AI, Corp. and built a portfolio of technology products from a MacBook terminal, noticed that the company he is suing in federal court had neglected a basic piece of corporate housekeeping in one of the largest markets in the country. He filled out the paperwork. He paid the filing fee. He is now the registered agent of META PLATFORMS INC in the state of Florida.
He has no interest in Meta's assets, its platforms, its data, or its approximately 3.2 billion daily active users. He just thought someone should point out the oversight.
The Florida Division of Corporations record is available at dos.fl.gov.
