Case No. 1:26-cv-00197-RH-HTC was filed August 28, 2026 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Gainesville Division. Here is where things stand.
The Case
JJ Johnson filed a civil complaint against Meta Platforms Inc., Mark Zuckerberg, X Corp, Space Exploration Technologies Corp d/b/a SpaceX, Elon Musk, TikTok Inc., Oracle Corporation, and Larry Ellison. The complaint demands $1,000,000,000 and includes 14 causes of action covering Civil RICO, Sherman Antitrust, Securities Exchange Act violations, Florida Digital Rights Act penalties, defamation, wire fraud, tortious interference, civil conspiracy, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, Florida UDAP, and election interference.
The case is assigned to Judge Richard Hinkle and Magistrate Judge Hope Thai Cannon.
What Has Happened Since Filing
Magistrate Judge Cannon issued a case management order following the filing. The order addressed standard procedural requirements including service of process on all defendants and compliance with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Johnson is proceeding in compliance with the court order.
Summons documents for all eight defendants have been processed by the court and received. Service on defendants is the next step in the process.
The Florida Digital Rights Act
The Florida Digital Rights Act meter stopped accruing on September 1, 2026 when all defendants restored normal service to Plaintiff accounts. The fixed accrued amount is $11,375,000: Meta Platforms Inc. $9,150,000. X Corp $800,000. TikTok Inc. $1,425,000.
That amount is fixed, documented, and calculable under Florida Statute Section 501.2041.
The Case Remains Active
